Greenwich Dining

Luca's Pizza

The Sunday scene in Greenwich was a vibe at Luca's Pizza. Owner Joe was personally taking orders and engaging with every customer. We started with radicchio, dried apricot, pistachio, red onion, balsamic vinaigrette. The mozzarella sticks with hot honey, as he notes, are a thing and the pizza, well, it’s fabulous. We had the Margherita and the White Forest, a white pie with roasted mushrooms, garlic and chives. Each one is propped up on an Il Mulino tomato can. Every table, indoors and out, was taken and the to-go orders were flying out the door. Let’s call this our new fave spot in Glenville for a casual meal from pizza to pasta, salads to chicken parm sandwiches. The smiles in here are also pretty priceless. Plus, we kind of can’t get enough of the custom pizza wallpaper.

Doppio

This buzzy Italian spot manages to be both ideal for families and festive to go out to with friends. Right off Greenwich Avenue, they have outdoor dining in the summer months and rustic indoor seating all in view of the restaurant’s brick oven pizza oven. Their Grilled Polpo, Carciofi, Crispy Calamri, Prosciutto E Burrata and Polopette are a few of the appetizers we always share. Their artisanal pastas including fettuccine and rigatoni are freshly hand made. But it’s their Bianche Pizzas like the Belle Haven with fresh mozzarella, gorgonzola, pear and truffle oil or the Bronx with fresh mozzarella, sausage, broccoli rabe and garlic that we crave. The Rosse Pizzas are equally as delicious; we love the Bleecker St and the Diavola with fresh mozzarella, pepperoni and chili oil. They’re traditional Italian favorites such as the popular bone in veal milanese and pan seared branzino round out the menu perfectly.

Elm Street Oyster House

It’s a vibe. This chic, cozy spot known for its fresh seafood and extensive wine list sounds pretty romantic to us. The longevity of this award-winning spot, just off of Greenwich Avenue, does not come as a surprise. Just like your date (utterly irresistible), the crab meat and guacamole stack on tortilla chips is Instagram worthy. The signature pan fried oysters and wasabi and sesame crusted seared yellow-fin tuna are outstanding, as are the beautiful seafood platters. The raw bar features six varieties of oysters daily. And you know what they say about oysters!

Le Penguin

This charming boîte is the perfect French bistro set right off the avenue. The energy in this spot is infectious from lunch to dinner or at the seen-and-be-seen tables outside in the warmer months. Our go-to’s, and we go very often, are the Lobster “Cobb” and the Salade au Bifteck for lunch and the Steak Frites or Moules Frites for dinner with Tuna Tartare to start.  P.S. we always love the cartoons in the toilettes. Terra Greenwich

Our favorite Northern Italian bistro in town is known for their handmade pastas and wood-oven pizzas; we’re partial to Prosciutto San Daniele pizza with sliced tomatoes, baby arugula and fresh mozzarella. The beef carpaccio and flash fried calamari are both our go-to appetizers. Every time we dine here we often leave commenting that the service is far superior to most of our CT. dining experiences. The outdoor patio in the summer season is the perfect spot for al fresco dining just off the avenue.

The Cottage

Brian Lewis, Chef and Owner of Full House Hospitality Group and his team have created two beloved restaurants, the first in Westport and the most recent on Greenwich Avenue, known for simple and welcoming New England-inspired  modern American dishes. A meal at The Cottage is always a perfectly executed crescendo of flavors. From a beet-cured hamachi crudo or wagyu beef tartare followed by a second course of potato ricotta gnocchi with burgundy black truffles or a duck roasted in coriander, wagyu ribeye au poivre, chanterelle mushroom risotto or seared dayboat scallops everything is utterly irresistible for lunch or dinner. We’re thrilled that the Greenwich locale recently started lunch service on Mondays. For brunch our faves are no doubt the waffles with apples, classic bao buns, shrimp and grits and shakshuka are divine and do not even think about leaving without the crispy rice with scallops.

Valbella

It goes without saying that the romantic setting of Valbella makes it one of our favorite restaurants all year long, but it’s especially noteworthy on Valentine’s Day. No matter how long your love has been blooming, a cena per due in one of the three elegant dining rooms is perfect for this quintessential date night. From the antipasto and seasonally driven insalata to the house made pastas, Valebella has been serving classic Italian food for over twenty-five years. The cheeky cocktail menu and show-stopping desserts simply add to the celebratory flair.
