Q+A with founder Genevieve Treacy of Vieve
Q+A
What inspired you to launch Vieve?
Vieve came to life from my love for travel and admiration for the Wayuu tribe in South America. I was drawn to the skill and dedication of Wayuu women, particularly their beautiful mochila bags. Inspired by their craftsmanship, I set out to create a sustainable, high-quality line of totes and bags that I could infuse my design aesthetic into.
What does the brand name translate to?
“Vieve” embodies the essence of being “full of life,” reflecting a personal philosophy I wholeheartedly embrace. It is also a nod to my name because I believe you should put yourself into everything that you create.
What is the Vieve vibe?
Free-spirited, unconventional, wanderlust, conscious, fun-loving
What is the most covetable style for Spring/Summer?
Without question my Cabana totes in fresh new colors!
What are your most popular styles?
The modern-day-mochila bags were the genesis of the brand. I fell in love the moment I saw them and I’m rarely found without one on my shoulder. They are functional, versatile, and visually represent an entire culture. I love pieces that tell a story and I wanted to start a line that brought more than an accessory to the market. Our newest bag, the Cabana Tote, has gained a ton of popularity as well. It is so crisp and clean looking but nods to the ever familiar beach tote. The main amazing difference is its durability. It is 100% waterproof which changes the boating/beach/poolside game.
