Give the Gift of Memory
Textile artist Barb Patrick transforms beloved fabrics into heirloom quilts and keepsakes, preserving stories, love, and legacy in every stitch.
If there is one undeniable trend this season it is the return, respect and appreciation of vintage. We’ve discovered the greatest talent in Barb Patrick Design who takes your treasures, like beloved T-shirts sweatshirts, and turns them into lasting stories.
Meet Barb Patrick a textile artist in Newtown who’s been crafting heirloom quilts and memory keepsakes for almost two decades. After many years as “Bitty Birdie Design”, she’s relaunched as Barb Patrick Design, bringing the same meticulous artistry to t-shirt quilts, memory quilts, baby blankets, teddy bears and custom pillows that transform cherished fabrics into pieces meant to last generations.
Her journey began twenty-four years ago with a simple Christmas gift, a sewing machine that sparked a lifelong passion. Today, from a sun-drenched studio inside a 1785 colonial, Barb works with impeccable materials and quiet intention, turning meaningful fabrics into one-of-a-kind keepsakes.
The setting feels like a Connecticut dream: five acres of gardens, a towering red barn, an old corn crib, white fences stretching into the landscape. Inside, the studio hums with stacks of fabric, the glow of late afternoon light, and the patter of two exuberant dogs named Murph and Pippa.
Barb’s work isn’t just about sewing. It’s about preserving what matters. A cherished flannel shirt reimagined. A grandmother’s fabric given new life. A baby’s first quilt. A son’s collected t-shirts made into a dorm room quilt. Pieces meant to be used, displayed, gifted, treasured.
This is slow craft in a fast world. Textile art rooted in place, passion, and the belief that some things are worth keeping forever.
Reach out to her to create the perfect gifts this holiday season.
