From street art to seascapes, abstracts to acid-hued images like her bestseller, Glow Worms, Monson is always thinking about the three c’s: concept, content and composition. Her world is filled with light, color and, most importantly, texture.

At the start of her budding career, when Monson headed to NYC, camera in hand, she was destined to fall in love with the gritty streets, hence her new, and already beloved, series “Literally” which is comprised of a series of images of crushed cans found on the ground. She fell in love with the capturing the diversity of NYC roaming around, as one does. Her sessions still reflect that desire to roam and discover.

People, lights, sound and movement always fascinated her. The pace and energy of worldwide metropolitan cities remain one of her favorite subjects to this day.  She just returned from a photographic sojourn to Cartagena, Colombia which also taps into her love of travel.

Her work, to this day, is as varied as New York itself which makes the fact that her home-cum-studio is the ideal place to display it. Each room has its own personality from a somewhat stark light flooded dining room with her black-and-white abstract images to her living room, each wall, featuring different, yet colorful images.

She has shown her work everywhere from Art Basel to the Arch. Digest Design Show (you can find her next at the Universal showroom at High Point Market). Visit her website 24/7 allysonmonsonphotography.com. Her new works drop on IG so make sure to follow her at @allysonmonsonphotography too.
